RENARD YEARBY – Othello
Renard’s theatrical debut was early 2018 in the LOFT Original’s TCC 416 playing the role of Marshall Danfield. Later in the year he appeared as Captain Horster in An Enemy of the People. Renard is cutting his teeth on Shakespeare in style, portraying the iconic role of Othello. Renard is an award winning slam poet living in Frankfurt and has just completed his first poetry collection entitled Kintsugi.
SARA JONES – Desdemona
Sara has been seen seen on the Shakespeare Frankfurt stage for a few years now. In 2016 she first played Antonia in a production of The Tempest, then Olivia in Twelfth Night. In 2017 Titania/Egea in A Midsummer Night’s dream and Mayor Stockman in Ibsens‘ An Enemy of the People. She also played in Grounded – a one woman Tour de Force at the Amelia Earhart Theatre in Wiesbaden produced by The LOFT. Favourite previous roles include Louise in Rocket Man, Patti Levaco in Kimberly Akimbo, Theresa in Circle Mirror Transformation, Ophelia in Hamlet, Veronica Novak in God of Carnage, Ann Deever in All My Sons and Annelle in Steel Magnolias.
PAUL COWLAN – Iago
Paul became a professional singer-songwriter in 1975. With nine music albums, three poetry collections, eleven alchemy booklets, and assorted literary prizes to his credit he has also been active in both the Poetry and Song Slam scenes, representing Frankfurt nationally in 2009 & 2010. As a Shakespeare fanatic he was active in ‚Shakespeare Anyone?‘ between 2012 and 2015; and, subsequently, with ‚Shakespeare Frankfurt‘. This is his fifth production, having been dramaturg and performer in: Hortus Inclusus (2016, Botanical Garden); in the leading role of Prospero (The Tempest, 2016); and the bibulous Sir Toby Belch (Twelfth Night, 2017). He played Morten Kiil in the 2018 production of Ibsen’s An Enemy of the People.
VARVARA POMONI – Emilia
Varvara comes from Athens, Greece. Her training includes improvisation and Meisner Technique classes at TLS, acting and voice courses at The LOFT and workshops at Rose Bruford and RADA in the UK. She has performed in FEST’s productions of Our Country’s Good and And Then There Were None. She directed the original play TCC-416 for The LOFT, where she also is an ensemble member of the silent clown piece WHERE. With Shakespeare Frankfurt, she has played in Twelfth Night (Maria), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Hippolyta & Fairies) and An Enemy of the People (Aslaksen). ©Foto-Daniel_Dornhoefer
JIM PHETTERPLACE JR – Rodorigo
In the last three years Jim has directed for FEST e.V. – Our Country’s Good and Loot and for the English Theatre Frankfurt Cinderella, appeared on the FEST stage, including William’s The Two-Character Play as Felice, in two short german films Fremdkörperkredit and Nimmerlandsverräter, performed a public reading of selected Shakespeare works for the choir Ars Antiqua, and appeared in multiple roles in Lost Highway for Oper Frankfurt. Othello marks his third appearance with Shakespeare Frankfurt, after playing The King and Stefano in The Tempest and Orsino in Twelfth Night. He will play in the Summer 2019 production of Macbeth in Frankfurt’s botanical garden.
CHRISTOPHER MORAHAN – Cassio
Having moved to Frankfurt from Dublin in 2017, he jumped into his first Shakespeare Frankfurt season in autumn 2018 appearing as Mr Vic in Ibsens‘ An Enemy of the People. Christopher’s previous involvement in theatre was as an actor and writer at University College Dublin. His previous acting credits include Hamlet, Julius Caesar and An Ideal Husband. Christopher is half Irish/ half Dutch.
PJ ESCOBIO – Director
PJ is the Artistic Director of Shakespeare Frankfurt where he has directed An Enemy of the People, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Tempest, Twelfth Night, and Hortus Inclusus. This Summer he will direct MacBeth for Shakespeare in the Garden. For 10 years he was the Artistic Director of Shakespeare Anyone? with which he played over 30 different roles from Hamlet and Macbeth to Falstaff and Iago, as well as produced and/or directed 18 different versions of the project, which began in 2005. Some of his other directing credits include: Grounded by George Brandt, Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller, Hachi no Ki (a Noh play), and the musical Oklahoma!.
VERA MARK – Stage Manager/Production
A Taunus native, Vera has participated in numerous productions of FEST, the Frankfurt English Speaking Theatre, acting, crewing and directing. In 2016, Vera joined Shakespeare Frankfurt as Adrian in The Tempest and in 2018 served as the unscripted behind-the-scenes fairy in the Garden production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and a mobster in An Enemy of the People in November. Off stage, Vera makes up her own stories; one of her short stories was just published in the SciFi anthology ‘The Singularity’, she is currently directing a short film and has another one in pre-production for shooting in April 2019.
