PJ ESCOBIO – Director
PJ is the Artistic Director of Shakespeare Frankfurt where he has directed A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Tempest, Twelfth Night, and Hortus Inclusus. This winter he will direct Lysistrata by Aristophanes at the ITF and MacBeth for Shakespeare in the Garden. For 10 years he was the Artistic Director of Shakespeare Anyone? with which he played over 30 different roles from Hamlet and Macbeth to Falstaff and Iago, as well as produced and/or directed 18 different versions of the project, which began in 2005. Some of his other directing credits include: Grounded by George Brandt, Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller, Hachi no Ki (a Noh play), and the musical Oklahoma!.
TRACEY GREY – Producer
Tracey spent the first 10 years of her career as a musical actress performing in shows across the UK such as, On the Razzle by Tom Stoppard, Blood Brothers by Willy Russell, Grease and West Side Story. In Frankfurt she founded the school Stagecoach Theater Arts and stretched her pedagogic muscles. Tracey works as a voice artist, performs in her own solo cabaret and enjoys mixing performance with coaching the cast and the complete design of a production. With the ensemble, Shakespeare Frankfurt, this is her sixth production. She will be musical director and performer in the upcoming winter show, Lysistrata and is looking forward to returning to the stage.
JACQUELINE TEEGARDEN – Stage Manager
Jacqueline has a degree in theatre from the University of Minnesota, Mankato. Since she moved to Germany three years ago she has worked on productions as a stage manager and an actor. Since living in Frankfurt she has worked on LOFT productions Grounded, All Woman and as an actress in Where, as well as the German premiere of Mordplan at the Interkulturelle Bühne. With the Shakespeare Frankfurt ensemble Jacqueline was on stage in Twelfth Night in 2017 and this past summer as Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
MICHAEL KINZER – Dr. Tomas Stockmann
Michael has been both on stage and in front of the camera since childhood. During his film studies in Mainz he appeared in several short and feature films, some awarded at international film festivals. With the Zettels Theater company he acted in several Shakespeare plays including Richard III where he played the infamous title role. Other acting credits include: Art, Six Characters in Search of an Author, No Exit, The Underpants and the one-person play Finnisch, for which he received the award for Best Actor at the Freispiel festival in Freiburg. In the Shakespeare Frankfurt ensemble he has recently played Ariel in The Tempest, Sebastian in Twelfth Night and Bottom in A Midsummer Nights Dream.
SARA JONES – Mayor Stockmann
Sara was seen on stage in Grounded – a one woman Tour de Force at the Amelia Earhart Theatre in Wiesbaden – produced by The LOFT. Prior to that, she played Antonia in a Shakespeare Frankfurt production of The Tempest, and more recently Olivia in Twelfth Night and Titania/Egea in the 2018 Shakespeare in the Garden. Favourite previous roles include Louise in Rocket Man, Patti Levaco in Kimberly Akimbo, Theresa in Circle Mirror Transformation, Ophelia in Hamlet, Veronica Novak in God of Carnage, Ann Deever in All My Sons and Annelle in Steel Magnolias.
ISABELLE WAGNER – Mrs Stockmann
Through her lifetime, Isabelle has been part of various theatre groups and productions performing in musicals like Der Mann von La Mancha or Im Weißen Rössl, comedies like Der Floh im Ohr or Mordplan and dramas like Don Karlos, Macbeth or Drei Schwestern likewise. Combining her love for the English language, acting and surprises, she started taking improv classes at TLS in 2015 which ultimately led to her joining the Shakespeare Frankfurt ensemble for An Enemy Of The People, which is her first full production in English.
LISA ULLRICH – Petra Stockmann
Lisa, 23, is from Frankfurt. She has just recently graduated from the acting course of the Institute of the Arts Barcelona. Her theatre credits include The Canterville Ghost (English theatre Frankfurt), After Troy (IAB), Love and Information (IAB), Madness in Valencia (IAB), Three Sisters (IAB) and the Opening Ceremony for Uniglobal, a large scale physical theatre piece at the Liverpool EchoArena.
VARVARA POMONI – Aslaksen
Varvara comes from Athens, Greece and has been involved in theatre since 2010. She has had training in improvisation and Meisner Techniques, and currently she attends the Future Performers program at The LOFT and workshops at Rose Bruford and RADA. She has performed in FEST’s productions of Our Country’s Good and And Then There Were None. Under the umbrella of The LOFT, she directed the original play TCC-416 and she is an ensemble member of the silent clown comedy WHERE. With Shakespeare Frankfurt, she played Maria in Twelfth Night and Hippolyta and Fairies in A Midsummer’s Night Dream this summer.
ANNA JANE ROGERS – Hovstad
Anna’s interest in theatre started as a child, taking acting lessons and participating in various drama competitions, later passing exams of the Poetry Society and LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art). Over the past 17 years she has also worked as a voiceover artist and developed an interest in directing and writing. Her plays have been performed in Europe and the USA. She has performed in London, Frankfurt and other European locations, including at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. This is her debut with Shakespeare Frankfurt.
ESA HOLSTEIN – Billing
Esa comes from Finland and his first foray into performing arts was dancing and playing the piano. In Frankfurt he took up improvisational theatre attending workshops at the Theatre Language Studio (TLS) where he was also involved in projects such as Play in a Day and the Staged Reading Series. He attended a course on the Meisner Technique at TLS and has also taken voice and performance classes at the LOFT Frankfurt. Esa has played in theatre productions at the Interkulturelle Bühne Frankfurt and the Bockenheimer Theaterensemble, and most recently in the German production of Flemming – An American Thriller at the Volksbühne Bad Homburg. This is his debut with Shakespeare Frankfurt.
EMMA TEITGE – Marta Stockmann
Emma is a Frankfurt native and has just graduated from school. She has been acting, singing and dancing at the musical theatre school, Stagecoach, for over 13 years. She was in the production of Je t’aime, Je t’aime at Schauspiel Frankfurt in 2014 and recently also part of international Stagecoach musical productions such as Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Little Shop of Horrors and Footloose in London, England. She is very excited about the opportunity to be a part of Shakespeare Frankfurt.
MELANIE KENNY – Eilif Stockmann
Melanie’s passion for performing was confirmed beyond doubt after her first professional experience as the child soloist in Evita at Frankfurt’s Alte Oper when she was 9. Since then she has participated in as many productions as possible, including playing Madame de Tourvel in an audio drama of Dangerous Liaisons, Miss Honey in Matilda the musical and Alice Beineke in The Addams Family musical. She recently directed her own production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol at her school and plans to pursue a career as an actress once she graduates from secondary school this summer.
PAUL COWLAN – Morten Kiil
Paul became a professional singer-songwriter in 1975, with nine music albums, three poetry collections, ten alchemy booklets, and assorted literary prizes to his credit. More than half his life he has been ‚onstage‘, either performing, lecturing or conducting courses worldwide, and as a Shakespeare fanatic, he jumped at the chance to join Shakespeare Frankfurt for which this is his 5th production. He was part of Shakespeare in the Garden 2016: Hortus Inclusus, Prospero in The Tempest, Sir Toby Belch, Twelfth Night and Oberon in A Midsummer Nights Dream.
RENARD YEARBY – Captain Horster
Renard is making his second appearance in a scripted play. His debut was earlier this year in the LOFT Original’s TCC 416 playing the role of Marshall Danfield. Renard is an award winning slam poet living in Frankfurt and has just completed his first poetry collection entitled Kintsugi.
CHRISTOPHER MORAHAN – Mr Vik / Mob
Having moved to Frankfurt from Dublin last year, this is Christopher’s debut with Shakespeare Frankfurt. Christopher’s previous involvement in theatre was as an actor and writer at University College Dublin. His previous acting credits include Hamlet, Julius Caesar and An Ideal Husband. Christopher is half Irish/ half Dutch.
VERA MARK – Mob
A Taunus native, Vera was bitten by the theatre bug as a teenager when a friend dragged her into the craziness of British pantomime. She has since participated in numerous productions of FEST, the Frankfurt English Speaking Theatre, acting, crewing and directing. In 2016, Vera joined Shakespeare Frankfurt as Adrian in The Tempest, then served as the unscripted behind-the-scenes fairy in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Off stage, Vera makes up her own stories; she has recently been hired to write two screenplays and has a short story to be published in the SciFi anthology ‘The Singularity’ in spring 2019.
JACOB SOLF – Mob
At 14 years old Jacob started acting in the Kellertheater Frankfurt with the productions Biedermann und die Brandstifter and Sweeney Todd – Eine Werkschau with the latter being his first production in both English and German. Two years later he is thrilled to join the Shakespeare Frankfurt ensemble with An Enemy of the People.
