Camera Acting

& E-CASTING WORKSHOP

Acting in front of a camera demands very specific skills from performers – and understanding the technical side of acting for film is as much important as is the process of scene and character study. This is an intensive screen-acting course for those who wish to gain confidence in front of a camera and who want to learn a structured approach to bringing characters to life in the medium of film.

Learn essential skills

This is an intensive screen-acting course for those who wish to gain confidence in front of a camera and who want to learn a structured approach to bringing characters to life in the medium of film. As e-Castings become more and more important, this course also teaches the basics of how to film a suitable e-Casting yourself.

1st Weekend: September Sat 29th 14:30-20:00 Uhr & Sun 30th  – 9:30-15.00 Uhr

2nd Weekend: October Sat 27th & Sun 28th – 10:00-17:00 & 10:00-18:00 Uhr

Cost: 259€  (15% early booking discount until 1. September 2018)

Content:

  • Acting on stage vs. acting in front of a camera
  • What to expect on your day on set (who is who and why)
  • Rules of the camera and blocking
  • Script Analysis: subtext
  • Scene and character study
  • Warm up and sensibility exercises
  • Authentic play: how to work with yourself and your scene partners
  • How to act when you are not in the frame
  • • e-Casting: preparations, shooting the introduction and casting, editing, uploading

There will be homework between the two sessions. You will receive a fictitious e-Casting during session 1 and you’ll have to shoot your own casting and upload it / send it to Alexander Frank, who will give feedback on all submitted files in session 2.

Please be aware that this course will not produce scenes for you to use in a showreel! All filmed material will be used for immediate camera-acting feedback, but the footage can not be taken home and will be deleted right after the end of the workshop. There will be a follow-up workshop next year that builds on this one and will focus on producing showreel-footage.
